After a very long wait, Ontario province on Jan 23rd 2017 has launched it’s first update with French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, which according to recent update on Ontario Immigration strategy goal of five per cent Francophone immigration.
As quoted from the website –
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has launched a new online application process to make it easier to apply to the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream and to help improve processing times for applicants.
Our ministry is committed to improving its application and business systems with a focus on enhancing client service. Additional online application systems are being developed over the coming months
The first step has been taken for the French speaking worker stream and with this OINP also launched it’s online portal for application which can be visited at –
With the launch of this portal, the notice has a notification which says –
If you received a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Ontario before January 23, 2017, you may submit a paper application to the OINP by mail. For instructions on how to submit a paper application and to access the application form and corresponding Application Guide, please click here . If you received a NOI after January 23, 2017, you must submit your application online.
This essentially means that OINP is referring to NOI sent in the year 2016 or possibly, there are some NOI sent in 2017 too specifically to peaking who have French speaking skills. It still remains to be verified but is entirely possible.
The application guide for this is located at http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/prodconsum/groups/csc/@oipp/documents/document/oi_en_fssw.pdf.
Overall, this is a positive development for thousands of candidates waiting for OINP nominations to start, but what needs to be considered here is this note in the application guide –
Please note that applicants who meet Ontario’s stream criteria may not necessarily receive a Notification of Interest. Ontario cannot guarantee that applicants will receive any particular result or benefit as a result of meeting its criteria
And the fact that there is no cut off score mentioned in this guide leaving us without any indication of the CRS-CUT off needed to match this criteria.
We expect other stream nominations to start on any date now, possible within this week itself and it would be interesting to see if they indeed launch with higher cut-off or reserve the golden number to themselves and hand pick candidates, which will completely turn this ball game.
Stay tuned for more updates.
