30th November 2016 Update – CIC has published a notice on Express Entry login page with the following update –
Possibly the draw is now delayed and will happen on 7th December 2016. CIC wants to clear the technical issues before going for a draw making system fair for all those candidates receiving additional points with policy changes.
Update – The draw is now expected on 30th November 2016 with next draws on 7th and 21st as predicted in this article. And as per recent statements from Immigration minister, French Speaking classes and Candidates with Canadian Siblings will receive more points in future updates to come.
After the recent CIC update on points allotted to candidates on 19th November 2016 policy changes, the express entry pool is divided in 3 groups namely
1. The first category is for people who have updated their Express Entry profiles and got their scores updated accordingly. Usually if you are looking for update due to job roles, ICT, NAFTA and similar, 50 points come to your profile as you update profile.
2. Second category is for those people who have updated their profiles and do not have any update in their scores or their score column has stayed blank OR 0, even after 24 hours have passed after profile update. Usually this category includes those who have updated their education column to get 15-30 points. Some candidates even had their points go down after updating their profiles, which came as a rude shock.
3. The third category is the largest category, which remains unaffected by the new point changes and wondering whether the scores will go upside or downside.
As time goes by and we edge towards the next CIC 48th Draw, which ideally should be drawn on 30th November 2016 keeping in mind that the profiles of candidates are still getting updated and any draw on 23rd will leave many candidates in lurch. It does make sense to have the next draw with some time gap on 30th November 2016, but looking at the fact that CIC may not have 3 draws in month of December leaving out the Christmas weekend, leaving us with 7th December and 21st December as the only dates after the next draw on 30th November 2016.
CIC may follow this pattern or alternately, they may release a draw on 23rd November to clear the past LMIA candidates including some of the new updated ones and take the rest ones in the next 2 draws on 7th and 21st December respectively.
According to an estimate, approximately 10,000-15,000 Candidates are expected to receive points due to these policy changes. The number of candidates in 450-500 CRS bracket has swelled up the total bracket by at least 10,000 candidates. This change is bound to push the CRS Cut-Off higher and is expected to remain high for the remaining draws in this year. Once this is cleared, we expect the CRS to come down and level around 450 for the first quarter of year 2017.
Express Entry has gone through a lot of positive changes and many such changes are expected to happen as we move towards the end of this year. Our prediction for the 48th CIC Draw is a CRS bracket of 490-495 with at least 2000-2500 invitations and it will come down to 475 CRS level by the end of this year. As the previous LMIA approvals clear out, we expect the CRS to go sub 450 levels during Q2 2017.
Did you update your score and are yet to receive points ?
It’s happening to almost 10,000 plus candidates so repeatedly checking your profile for points won’t help. Just make sure you answer all new questions correctly and wait for at least 72 hours before you receive an email of Express entry profile update. Login and check your score should be updated. If not, try to delete your old profile and recreate a new one with all correct answers, wait for score update. It should resolve your concern, if not Go ahead with raising a Case specific enquiry or a technical query with CIC and let them take care of your problem.
