This article may come as a shocker to those applicants, who have submitted their Ontario PNP Applications for processing and still waiting for any update from OINP office.
Recently, a colleague of our author connected us with someone, who works for the Ontario PNP department and this is what we learnt so far.
We discussed a lot of topics, before arriving at the topic of OINP processing timing. She spoke on the condition of anonymity and this is what we learnt.
Ontario PNP office has received almost 40% higher applications than anticipated, after dropping the CRS score to 400 for selection criteria. We were informed by our source that during the discussion upon this cut-off criteria, it was suggested to keep CRS limit at 430 but was deliberately kept at 400 expecting low volume of applicants which was a total disaster.
OINP is considering raising the bar to 450 CRS scores to get invitations for next quota allocation. The processing time for the applications is already 2-3 times the usual time taken for processing. OINP office is working on less than 40% of the applications compared to what it used to work upon back in 2015. The office is currently awaiting approval for the allocation of 2017 and it looks like they have no clarification of what they have to do or how many applications they actually have to clear.
Even the AOR confirmation which used to take 21-30 days before express entry system is now taking months to come for candidates, which is seemingly quite irritating for candidates who have documents missing out of their package and once rejected they can not reapply since OINP is not accepting applications any more. OINP has a knack of rejecting applicants on any error found in their package, something which is quite unacceptable.
With all the proposed changes for International students, OINP is expecting additional PNP quota stream allocation for the students currently pursuing studies in Canada. Additional points are also being considered as per the press statements of Minister McCallum.
Well all said and done, 2016 has turned out as a disaster year for the immigration consultants and aspirants, hope it all gets well settled in place for all candidates.
