“It’s hopeful that besides other upcoming reforms, the government is expected to introduce 600 Additional points towards the CRS score for students having completed a Canadian degree giving them higher preference while ranking candidates towards PR applications.”
The Canadian Express Entry system is all set to undergo a major change in the year of 2016 if the words of McCallum is anything to go with. In a recent meeting Mr. John said that “”We must do more to attract students to this country as permanent residents”, which essentially means that the students carrying Canadian degree have not been given enough privilege under the current system and reforms are under way to correct that.
Calling them as “They are the cream of the crop, in terms of potential future Canadians.”, there has been constant demand by the students to the liberal government to do necessary changes in the existing system to rank them above other foreign nationals.
Immigration lawyers have always quoted that International students are most fertile in terms of Canadian residency and will be best suitable candidates to be counted towards the immigration candidature. McCallum also quoted that these students should be counted first amongst other foreign nationals towards the express entry system.
An upcoming government Bill C-6 also proposed to count 50% of the time a foreign resident spends in Canada before he received Permanent Residency towards citizenship, this move is specially going to benefit International Students.
John McCallum also quoted that he has also spoken about the other possible reforms, which also includes if there’s a need for Labour Market Impact Assessment towards the express entry system.
We are eagerly awaiting these changes to be implemented and hope that these changes will positively impact applicants to a bright future.
